We are standing On the Arkansas side look there across the river look there across the river We are standing On the Arkansas side Mississippi calling Mississippi calling Bennie almost passed away sunken eyes, he lost way too much weight he walked to the river and washed his face "I need some river on my skin to make me feel alive again" We are standing On the Arkansas side look there across the river look there across the river We are standing On the Arkansas side Mississippi calling Mississippi calling a heart and soul is bound to a place it's the garden for familiar grace we came West to the Arkansas line To stand with a friend who almost died And Old Man river seems wider now than it did seems darker and stranger to us now standing here on the other side the angel of death makes you squint your eyes We watched the sun go down that day We even bowed our heads and prayed not for healing or miracles at all.. as I recall we didn't say a thing.. We are standing On the Arkansas side look there across the river look there across the river We are standing On the Arkansas side Mississippi is calling us home Mississippi is calling us home

Desoto County Mississippi, You were named after a man, Who came here seeking routes to China, Forever changing this land. Forever changing this land. He and his men made their way south, Traveling hard for weeks on end. They came upon the Big Muddy, Too loud to speak too wide to swim. They saw Chickasaw on the shore, Clear across on the other side. They started waving cause the river was wide, Those Chickasaw, they did oblige. Desoto asked for a volunteer To go across and greet those men. One fella stepped up to Hernando, Desoto, said it should be him. Desoto County Mississippi, You were named after a man, Who came here seeking routes to China, Forever changing this land. He would row across the river. He would greet the Chickasaw. He would bring some Spanish booty, it to their Chief he would bestow. The Chickasaw kept waving kindly, Just waiting calmly for the man. And when he docked they ran to greet him, And killed him right there in the sand. Desoto County Mississippi, you were named after a man, Who came here seeking routes to China, Forever Changing this land. Forever changing this fair land... moore/gordon

Sanctuary 02:58
I walked outside into the heat humidity high and the dogs were asleep I crawled on the tractor and lit my pipe Wouldn't care if it rained... Sometimes Sanctuary comes to a man alone on his tractor doing the best he can Sometimes Sanctuary's buried in the land This red clay earth he's given to understand we drove to Clarksdale in a thunder storm Dark clouds ominous and brutal in their beauty We smoked and laughed listening to R.L. Burnside windows down, hearts high and free Sometimes Sanctuary comes to friends In an old blue Buick on HWY 6 Sometimes Sanctuary's hiding in a song Laughing with the storms we've always known There is wisdom growing in these fields of soy bean and cotton Work and sweat, worn out and sore, driving home in the light as God paints another SUNDOWN Mississippi SKY. Sometimes Sanctuary comes in the darkness in the soft light of smoking and reading Sometimes Sanctuary comes in sweet sleep when we are given that sweet sweet dream. moore/gordon

Uncle Junior was there Uncle Henry was there Uncle Clement was there Aunt Janice was there Aunt Annette was there Aunt Teresa was there Bobby Nell too we were all there at the family reunion when the Hailey's came in when the Hailey's came in at the family reunion Uncle Junior brought the boxing gloves Uncle Henry brought the Bourbon Uncle Clement brought the beer but they kept it all hidden Out back by the barn they made us little boys fight me and cousin Brian D. Hell, they knew it wasn't right we were all there at the family reunion when the Hailey's came in when the Hailey's came in at the family reunion Old man Hailey walked with a cane But he moved like a Ninja across the room He caught Junior upside the head with the crook of the cane and Henry laid out Hailey with the handle of a broom Aunt Teresa grabbed her youngins and hurried for the door Bobbie Nell helped Junior get up off the floor Another Hailey started swinging for whoever she could hit Aunt Annette threw a casserole and hit her on the shin we were all there at the family reunion when the Hailey's came in when the Hailey's came in at the family reunion moore/gordon

Back tires spinning in the red clay Mississippi mud, Hauling ass from the sheriff even though we're related by blood. Uncle Henry found the hooch growing on the land we own, Now we gotta find a place to hide and wait until he's gone. You think that I'm kidding, but mister I ain't. This stuff goes on around here every night and day. Moonshine is gone, cause it don't pay the bills, So Benny brought his Axe, and he laid it to the Steel. Now we're growing what we're knowing for damn sure Mississippi will. Yea we're growing what we're knowing for damn sure Mississippi will. Cousin Joey races cars on the dirt every weekend he can. He cheats if he has to finish in the money again. He's a good ole boy but smarter than you think, It was his idea to raise these crops, and put some cash in our bank. You think that I'm kidding, but darling I ain't. This stuff goes on around here every night and day. Moonshine is gone, cause it don't pay the bills, So Benny brought his Axe, and laid it to the Steel Now we're growing what we're knowing for damn sure Mississippi will. Yea we're growing what we're knowing for damn sure Mississippi will! It's hard for a man to make ends meet in this troubled time. Gas prices are killing the working man, getting higher and higher. :) Uncle Henry has to chase us cause it's his job and he does it well. But you can bet your ass we'll never spend a minute in jail. You think that I'm kidding, but darling I ain't. This stuff goes on around here every night and day. Moonshine is gone, cause it don't pay the bills, So Benny brought his Axe, and he laid it to the Steel! We're growing what we're knowing for damn sure Mississippi will. Yea we're growing what we're knowing for damn sure Mississippi will. moore/gordon

Be Like Pablo Be like Pablo Be like Pablo Yea! Be like Pablo Be like Pablo Be like Pablo Yea! Brick by brick. He built his Kiln. He saw and willed it, All the way to the end. With fine gray ash, He makes a bowl. With pulverized glass, man. He gives it soul. Be Like Pablo Be like Pablo Be like Pablo Yea! Be Like Pablo Be like Pablo Be like Pablo Yea! His young gray mare, turns the wheel. His Mississippi clay, Is his Mississippi Will. Bowls, Pitchers Saucers and plates, Mugs for coffee, Such beautiful shapes. He came to Mississippi from Spain (throw more wood in the kiln) Fell in love with the red clay soil (Get it hotter get it hotter again!) Without money he found his way (Now put the formed clay inside!) He willed it through sweat and hope (Watch it harden and sparkle in the fire!") Animals animals animals everywhere Animals come whenever he calls Roosters and goats Horses and hens Gows his own food, You should see his garden. Beautiful tomatoes! Everything's growing. Everybody see that nothing is wasted. Everyone hear the story well. Everybody touch the clay we walk on. Everybody drink from the cups he sells. Be Like Pablo Be like Pablo Be like Pablo yea Be like Pablo Be like Pablo Be like Pablo yea.... moore/gordon

It's behind the seat wrapped in a towel get it out and use it here they come the driver turned around looked into her blue eyes she blinked twice and smiled here they come here they come the tested and tried the haggard black eyed here they come here they come the tears they have cried the misguided they guide here they come Circus girl showed her tattoo It was of a girl with a tattoo what did she just say to you? "Here they Come" here they come the tested and tried the haggard black eyed here they come here they come the tears they have cried the misguided they guide here they come Ever single skeleton walking along looking for flesh and blood to put on reminds me of you and me reminds me to set you free here they come the tested and tried the haggard black eyed here they come here they come the tears they have cried the misguided they guide here they come moore/gordon

about

These songs were inspired by our unplanned reunion. Jeff and I came together in 2012 after a few years apart. I happened to be in Nashville working for a year, and one day I dropped by his place on Music Row unannounced. It's as if we had never been apart. The muse was stronger than ever. These were the first songs we wrote. We never meant for this to be an album. Most of these are the only recording of the song. We put the song together, get the feel, press record, and play it. These are all first takes. This is raw. This is real. These are all recorded on a hand held stereo recorder. Jeff would sit on one side of the desk, me on the other. In between, placed on a coffee mug, was the recorder. There is no mixing, overdubs, or panning. Every noise, tone, sound, you hear happened in that moment.

Hope you enjoy, Keith.
