Jeff sent me a link that took me to an interview with the late Shelby Foote. The last of the true southern gentleman. He was the "Virgil" in Ken Burns' epic documentary "The Civil War". He was our ever gracious and gritty guide. After I watched the incredible interview, these words came from somewhere.
lyrics
It's behind the seat
wrapped in a towel
get it out and use it
here they come
the driver turned around
looked into her blue eyes
she blinked twice and smiled
here they come
here they come
the tested and tried
the haggard black eyed
here they come
here they come
the tears they have cried
the misguided they guide
here they come
Circus girl showed her tattoo
It was of a girl with a tattoo
what did she just say to you?
"Here they Come"
here they come
the tested and tried
the haggard black eyed
here they come
here they come
the tears they have cried
the misguided they guide
here they come
Ever single skeleton walking along
looking for flesh and blood to put on
reminds me of you and me
reminds me to set you free
here they come
the tested and tried
the haggard black eyed
here they come
here they come
the tears they have cried
the misguided they guide
here they come
